The Editorial Score (ranked list positions)
Every clinic on ClinicLayer receives an editorial score from 0–10. This score determines the ranked list order on our compare pages. Affiliate commission rates have no effect on this score.
The editorial score is based on five equally weighted factors:
Price transparency (20%). Does the clinic publish all costs upfront — medication, labs, consultations, and shipping? Clinics that require a full intake before revealing pricing score lower. Clinics with clear all-inclusive pricing score higher.
True annual cost (20%). We calculate the full cost of 12 months of treatment including labs (either included or at market rate for two draws per year), startup fees, and medication. Clinics with lower true annual cost score higher relative to the category median.
Lab inclusion (20%).Labs are TRT's biggest hidden cost and a meaningful cost factor for GLP-1 and HRT programs. Clinics that include labs in their monthly price score significantly higher in this category.
Delivery and protocol options (20%). Greater flexibility in delivery format (injectable, oral, topical, cream) and protocol options scores higher. We verify what is actually available, not just what is advertised.
Verified reviews and trust signals (20%). Trustpilot rating (weighted by volume), LegitScript certification, BBB accreditation, and state medical board licensing. We do not use unverifiable testimonials.
Editor's Choice
Editor's Choice is a sponsored placement. It appears above the ranked list and has no rank number. It is explicitly not the same as #1.
We select the Editor's Choice from clinics that meet two criteria: (1) they have an active affiliate relationship with ClinicLayer with a meaningful commission rate, and (2) they offer competitive pricing that we believe represents genuine value for patients — not just the highest commission regardless of quality.
We do not accept payment for Editor's Choice placement directly. It is determined by our affiliate program participation and internal value assessment. The "Sponsored" label appears on the Editor's Choice banner.

How we verify pricing
Pricing is verified by our team on a rolling basis — typically updated monthly or when a clinic notifies us of a change. We prioritize verified pricing over advertised pricing where the two differ. Pricing marked as "verified" reflects the actual cost a patient would pay at the time of verification, including all mandatory fees.

Clinic inclusion and removal
Any licensed US telehealth clinic operating in our covered categories (TRT, GLP-1, HRT, hair loss, ED, peptides) may appear on ClinicLayer. We do not charge for inclusion in our ranked lists. We may add or remove clinics based on licensing status, patient safety concerns, or inability to verify pricing.
Clinics with unresolved regulatory actions, active FDA warning letters related to patient safety (not marketing), or credible patterns of patient harm complaints may be removed or flagged.
